  • Jackie Trent

I picked up a Phillips 7" single from 1978 by Jackie Trent today. On the A-side is a cover of "Tomorrow" from the musical "Annie".

On the B-side, however, is the most amazing funk tune called "Jazz For The Massess" and sounds like nothing else I've ever heard from Mrs Trent.

Has anyone got any info on this particular 7"? I'm pretty certain it was never issued on an LP either.

(Both sides were produced by Tony Hatch, unsurprisingly).

    Thanks for any help.

What a coincidental world is this digging lark - a record store owner only yesterday told me about this 7" after having sold it in the week to a regular, who's a particular collector of stuff like Jackie Trent etc. When he noticed the title of the flip he gave it a spin and couldn't believe his ears - supposedly very funky indeed! I'll be a-hunting that one down then..
Let him have the lot for £2.00 - we were only going to throw 'em out anyway...
