Thursday June 24: DJs Nick.C and special guest, Ian Wright (Sister Funk)
Hot, Funky & Sweaty. Every Thursday at The Salmon & Compass, 58 Penton St (corner of Penton & Chapel Mrkt), Angel, London N1. 8pm-2am. £2 (cheap!
This Thursday sees the long awaited appearance of the one and only Ian Wright, arguably the best funk 45 DJ in the world.
Wrighty’s been there for as long as anyone can remember. The man behind BBE’s infamous Sister Funk compilation, Ian has more ‘one know copy in existence’ 45s than anyone else, anywhere. And he’s played them to rapt audiences the world over. Of course it’s not all about playing the most obscure funk ever. Don’t worry, umpteen years and an open-minded outlook ensures that you’ll get an accessible set - as well as hearing those lovely, mad funk tunes that you may never see spinning in the flesh ever again!
Be sure to tune into Wright’s and Trouble’s radio show at http://www.deepfunk.org – there’s usually a new one up every two weeks or so...
