"my name is michael and i'm a vinyholic"

the VV board is one of the friendliest and most civilised places on the web. there's also a good range of styles of music that people like, and a lot more tolerance to any style of music than other places.

Don't listen to him, he's a git. And his copywriting skills are useless. Â

No seriously, VV is great for all the reasons Mike mentioned and also the fact that the depth of knowledge and the readiness to share it is amazing.

VV's not cliquey - I only knew one other person on here when I registered, and now I know loads as proper mates. Don't be scared, just join in (and if we don't reply it's probably because we don't know the answer or we're not online). I only remember one proper tiff that wasn't sorted like grown ups (only DJH is as friendly, although the new Funk 45 board is worryingly matey and open minded these days ).

Anyway, I'm Richard, by day I'm a laboratory manager in a scientific institute and I'm 99 years old. No really... I'm a total magpie when it comes to my musical tastes and I'd probably find it easier to define it in terms of what I don't like. I probably post on here more than is healthy. Who's next?

My name is Tobias and I'm 23. I'm studying marketing and management, and I work in a insurance company. Besides that, I collect records. I've done that for probably 5 years, my collection is about 600 records. It consists of
lounge, library, scandinavian grooves, soul and funk.
I know a few people on the board: Nuts, Teddy Rosso, Ed, and V-man.

Soon, I'm going to study in Uppsala in Sweden, and I know they got some nice records over there. I'll promise to bring some spares!

My name is Dean.

The first record I bought was 'Pass The Dutchie' by Musical Youth.

I started collecting records after hearing James Brown for the first time.

I live in Reading and work in Java.

I live in a flat so cannot play my music dead loud. I therefore started a night with my good friend Veris called 'The Program'.

I will soon be moving to Copenhagen.

I come to VV because people are friendly and have manners. I was quite happy to converse with people over the Natter board but did not want to meet them in the flesh because they sounded like a bunch of geeks. After attending my first Brillo I realised they were a bunch of geeks but made up for it by being good blokes.

I sometimes post on the all new Funk45 board. I also lurk heavily on DjHistory - i would post but I'm under 40.

I'm Nick and I'm not a rodeo monkey. I'm a freelance writer and I DJ and run a funk night in London that I'm sure everyone on this board is sick of reading about by now...

I'm 33, and have been a vinyl addict, like everyone else here, for about 15 years. I came to this site at the insistence of Sermad, who got my email from the SoulStrut site and mailed me when he moved to London from Brighton.

It would be great if every single person here does this and introduces themselves...

As an irregular poster I should introduce myself. My name is Simon and probably older than most of you out there.
I've finally given up being a wage slave living away from home to a life of insecurity working from home. At least I have a chance to see my friends and listen to more music
I listen to most kinds of music really apart from r'n r.I notice they're plugging a Thin Lizzy CD this week on T.V.I didn't like it then and I certainly don't like it now!

I don't post as much as I should because ;
a) I aint that adept at typing, and
b) a lot of the discussion is about stuff I don't know about.

I've got to say that this board is most definitely one of the friendliest out there.I've seen no one getting slapped down ... well apart from that unpleasantness with you know who. I wondered where he'd got to

Oh and I must make up a trades list
Back to Neuuuuuuuuuu!

>cue float on musical intro<

Hi, my name is Mark I'm and Aries and I love alllllllllllllllllll the records of this world.

By day I am a mild mannered civil servant in the Irish Ministry of Agriculture and at lunchtimes I scour the poorly stocked charity shops of Dublin for various snippets of esoterica.

Proof of my bizarre musical habits can be found here:

Enthusiastic vagueness passes for scholarship in the twilight world of the disc-jockey.

My name's Bill and I'm 44, but I only look 43. I was born under a bad sign (or was it a crossfire hurricane?) in Grimsby. I've been buying records since 1968-ish and collecting them since about 1975. I have been variously a chef, process worker in a frozen pea factory, tap dancer and champion ferret breeder. I currently sit at home all day faffing about listening to music and stuff.

I discovered VV via a Google search about two years ago, though I never found the promised Arbroath smokies I was searching for.

Jeez, that's a bitch of a commute

Anyway, I'm Matt and I'm 33 next month.

I work in an I.T. post within local government, and live in Southampton.

At school, I used to spend my lunch money on 45s from Finlays ('Star Hits&#39 and go hungry. Same deal these days, just with more lunch money.

My name is Greg and I'm a baseball pitcher.

I've got a good fastball, OK curveball and a not very good sinker - absolutely sod all ambition. Qualities I bring to the game are no loyalty whatsoever, no team leader skills atall, average talent, but yet consistency.
