I dimly remember a (proto) elephant six-ish cover of the whole Odyssey & Oracle LP by The Chrysanthemums back in the late 80s/early 90s...which funnily enough I heard before the actual Zombies LP. Which was really the reason I did hear the Zombies LP, in fact.

Otherwise, there are a few I've never heard of listed on The Covers Project:

    Scott Weiland
    Trip Shakespeare
    Michael Damian
    Brent Bourgeois
    Jon Brion

Your guess about those is as good as mine.

But there's got to be some Ventures/Easy/Jazz-type takes tucked away on LPs somewhere, surely? I can imagine it'd funk up quite nicely, too, if some soul outfit had ever felt so-minded...

Arse, should have remembered this at the time, and it's probably too late now... But Billy Vaughn made a very reasonable stab at this (in an Enoch Lightish way) on 'Windmills Of Your Mind'. Careful now - I have two copies of this LP of which only one has this track...

Ooh, I'll have to look out for that.

Is any of Billy Vaughan's stuff any cop? I'm rather enamoured of his 'Quietly Wild' LP, actually - really nice cover too!

I bought three other LPs on the strength of this. And they were all bobbins (IMO).

i've had Billy Vaughn's 'Pearly Shells' LP written on my list for ages, for 'Caravan', but have forgotten who recommended it and no idea if it's a good version or not. anyone know?

the Contour reissue of 'La Paloma' has a nice young lady on the cover, and i seem to remember it being ok easy latin, but nothing special.

Great version, now to find a copy. Ive had it in my saved searches for ages, and seems as though it's hardly ever on ebay.

I struggle with that term. I mean, since when was it wrong to dig a boutique? They're really cool.
