Thursday August 05: Big Daddy MoochinÂ’ live, plus guest DJ Pete Beaver.

Hot, Funky & Sweaty
Every Thursday, Salmon & Compass, 58 Penton St, Angel N1 9PZ
8pm – 2am. £2 (cheap&#33

Big Boogaloo funk with dirty horns, Big Daddy MoochinÂ’ hit it up at HF&S - debuting some recent changes including a new male vocalist. By now, their first 45 shouldÂ’ve been just released, produced by SpeedometerÂ’s Leigh Gracie. Look out for it.

Guest DJ duties fall on Pete Beaver this week. Needless to say, he has the tunes – expect to hear all the big pieces: Barbara Mason, Curtis Liggins, Little Beaver, Leon Gardner etc. But he's not afraid to play out the classics either. It’s all about the balance y’all...

Check out Big Daddy MoochinÂ’ here:

Mr. Beaver had to bow out at the last moment, due to work issues. Steeping in at the last moment to save the day is our very own Bongolia, who'll be joining myself behind the decks - saved my bacon dude!

Bugger, I'm meeting up with Sie and Hayd tonight, otherwise I'd definitely be down for this one. Have a good 'un Mike!
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

Big thanks to Mike for coming down at the last minute! My head is throbbing... Geez, that band make Breakestra look like pensioners - I have no idea how they got through so many bits of tracks without forgetting at least one changeover and apparently they don't know how they do it either. Went down very well, whole floor full of dancing people, lots of ladies too...

Mike kept them all grooving after, even got old Kebbie doing a Northern shuffle. Cheers Mike!

the band were fun, good party atmosphere, and a cute (but attached i think) trumpeter, and i managed to get away with a right load of old cheese.

could have done without a 9 AM meeting with some blokes from Oracle this morning though... ouch
