    Brillo Report, August 2004

August’s Brillo was a bit different from the usual: civilians everywhere... This did not however deter any plans to spin "weird gear". We all wondered if the innocents’ happy hour would become their unhappy hour, but no one seemed to bat an eyelid, even during Andy’s psyche special. Just when it had thinned out a bit and lulled us Brilloites into a sense of security, having secured our sanctuary of nerdness once more – a bunch come in to celebrate someone’s birthday... Luckily at this point, the Cheebs stepped fourth to drop hard hitting funk, much to the crowd’s delight. After Cheebs was only myself and Serms armed with a handful of funk rock 45s. Somehow we averted a riot by playing most of the Hell’s Belles soundtrack and some Bo Diddley/James Knight that was only in the bag to safeguard the OST from bending... We managed to fob off requesters by saying "you’re not meant to be here" and Serms managed to fight off a few more laying siege to the decks like Scarface whilst dropping some final 45s before concluding that we were too pissed/couldn’t be bothered anymore and got the fuck outta there.

This monthÂ’s Brillo holds many records: Biggest crowd (not Brillo related), best set from Andy (self admission, but I for one agree) and worst notes/handwriting (expect tonnes of typos and thereÂ’s no time to go through it all with a fine whatever right now)

Is there a way to put the tracklists up, then allow others to get in and edit their own sets for typos etc? Or is that too complicated...

                              Lazy bastard?

Yes probably, but in this specific instance, not guilty m’lud.

Case for the defence: absence of writing implement and the demanding initial task of centring US 7”s manually after numerous bevvies.

Anyway, felt a bit two bob playing this lot after what had gone before but, hey, “vive le difference” I always say:
