  • Records that sound good in a club.....

There are some records that sound pretty good over a loud system, but are absolute bollocks when played at home.

One that springs to mind is the Jimmy Caravan - Look Into The Flower LP (apologies to LDJB)

Towny used to play this every now and again at a Weds night jazz thing in Cambridge donkeys years ago.

It always sounded good over a big(ish) system, but every time I tracked the LP at a shop it sounded pony.

Are there any others you can think of? Or conversley, what sounds good at home, but crap over a big system?
He also contributed songs for the Jim Henson movie vehicle 'Muppets From Space'.

joe houston - his LP on Bigtown sounded great at home and sucked massively on a big system (as Brillo regulars can attest).

also that glenda mccloud 45 sounds wicked on a big system but rubbish on a home one. needs big bass bins to carry it.

Nobody Loves Me But My Mama sounds better on PA cos it has this bass that only seems to respond to big bins... That and a fair few hip hop 12"s like Fried Chicken etc, actually just about all of 'em.
