As there are several of us who are on the VV site alarmingly frequently and also buy/sell on eBay, might there be a possibility of having some sort of VV endorsement of our sales? Maybe a logo of some sort that shows our membership of this community and a link to the site?

Might lend that bit more credibility to us and show buyers what kind of area we specialise in (and also that we, to an extent, know our onions - "Ooh Jill, you know your onions!&quot.

And it may also lead more bods to the site, even if only out of curiosity.

Or are we keeping it as a local site for local people?

    Just a thought.

Not really sure how that'd benefit the site Ben? Especially seeing how strictly the 'trades' rather than 'sales' aspect of the board is adhered to. And it wouldn't benefit bidders either, only sellers. Sounds a bit S**lstrut to me (no offence to our crossposting brethren )...

But then people will click on the link, research the record and get that 'pay no more than 50p' warning for all the bits of chuff that I'm selling.

hahaha yeah nice call there Blighty.

Ben - I don't see any halm in linking to the vv site in your auctions - but perhaps slapping down a 'certified vulture' seal of approval just wouldn't do much at all and possibly be abused by dodgy gits.

          Poor old pokester...

Is there a sort of 'Electronic Masonic Handshake' version you could use, only recognisable to other Vultures?

Be more useful if we could hall have a little VV next to the star rating on ebay, so we know for sure we're not bidding against each other. I can only memorise so many ebay handles, and I try not to bid against my own customers as well...

And I'm not getting any more brain cells at this point...

That's the only way it would work, otherwise you're simply putting people on to good stuff and driving the price up - aren't all VVs born bargain hunters?!

OK, I admit that I haven't thought this through as thoroughly as my plan to abduct Rachel Stevens, but I thought that it might benefit more than just the seller. Bidders can see a kind of seal of approval that this or that person is essentially a decent sort (as most on here undoubtedly are. And as I have no friends, I might like to belong to some sort of gang.

In terms of benefit to the site, do you not think that new arrivals might just have something new to contribute? Maybe there is more knowledge out there just waiting to be unleashed. I'm pretty sure that I'd like to have new artists/tunes etc revealed to me - whatever the source.

Next time I'll road-test my theory a bit better before exposing myself (insert 'fnarr' here Rich) to public ridicule.

                  Sorry to butt in but..

Good manners state that a VV cannot bid against another VV. However, I don't know everyone's Ebay handle. Would it be possible for people to add their Ebay handles to their signatures to aide my memory?

Right, that's it! Since I've obviously been tarred with that brush, I'll change my name to Finbar Saunders. No amount of denial will convince you lot so I may as well join you.

And we've already got close on 500 board members, which seems pretty healthy? New members do seem to arrive from somewhere, so the 'if they can find VV using Google or by chatting to a mate' intelligence test seems to be doing alright.

I think its best not to be giving vv handles out unless you actually bid on something by accident and they email to say about it - quite a few people here don't mind if fellow vultures bid against them and I guess they want the privacy of their handle.

Serms and I have discussed this before.

You're relying on everyone being honest mate and there may be some folk who have several eBay accounts/handles and who may only be known to you under one name, then bid against you using another alias.

Far-fetched? I know someone in Nottingham who has three accounts. One to buy 'breaks', one to buy HipHop and the other to sell HipHop/breaks.

That's a shame. I thought not bidding against each other was a good bit of chivalry in the decadent world of record collecting. I will now not hold off from bidding.

Done with love Rich. So what if there's a bit of the Charles Hawtrey about you? Somethings are just funny because they are. I may become more intellectual and effete over time, but I'll always find a bit of double-entendre makes me giggle.

I mean, when Portugal went up for their runners-up medals in Euro 2004, did I really need to text people to look out for their reserve goalkeeper? No. But I did and how we laughed!

lhc - I think you misunderstood me mate. I never knew your ebay id until last night where I found one of your auctions and put two and two togther. I'm not going to blurt out your ebay id as I know people like to keep things low key.

I totally abide by the vv code - last month it was andy soul fiend beating me to the punch and before it was sneaky ole rich hero! other day it was john s. Saved me a ton of cash boys! nice.
