So it *was* you dancing along to this in Tom's Tent on the Friday night???

But I'll only be impressed if you can now recite Oran 'Juice' Jones' rap from 'The Rain'...
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

You don't mess with the Juice!

Your wish is my command:

I saw you)
Hey hey baby how ya doin' come on in here
(Walking in the rain)
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waiting for you
Listen first things first let me hang up the coat
(You were holding hands and I'll)
Yeah how was your day today
Did you miss me
(Never be the same)
You did? Yeah? I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today
(I saw you)
That's right now close your mouth
'Cause you cold busted
(Walking in the rain)
Now just sit down here, sit down here
I'm so upset with you I don't know what to do
(You were holding hands and I'll)
You know my first impulse was to run up on you
And do a Rambo
(Never be the same)
I was about pull out the jami on you and flat blast both of you
But I didn't wanna mess up this thirt-seven hundred dollar lynx coat
So instead I chilled -- That's right chilled
I called up the bank and took out every dime.
Than I cancelled all your credit cards...
I stuck you up for every piece of jewelery I ever bought you!
Don't go lookin' in that closet 'cause everything you came here with is
packed up and waiting for you in the guest room. What were you
thinking?
You don't mess with the Juice!
I gave you silk suits, blue diamonds and gucci handbags.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young.
And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days . . .
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta here with that alley-cat-coat-wearing,
hush puppy-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with. Cause you
dismissed!
That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids, don't you know
that. You without me is like corn flakes without the milk! This is my
world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut! Now get on outta
here. Scat!
Don't touch that coat...
He also contributed songs for the Jim Henson movie vehicle 'Muppets From Space'.

The freeez tune was on a roots manuva mix cd and yeah it was played at the big chill. I just wondered if it was nostalgia or do people think its a good record?

It was great at the time, but I don't think it sounds that great now, personally. Tinny production, vile stringy stabs.

Southern Freeez still sounds good, though.

One of my fave plays I gotta admit!

This track, for me, epitomises the kind of tune that can sometimes receive a less than warm response from the dancers, but after the first 30 seconds people kick themselves that they didnt stay on the floor for its massive feel good factor. I love this record and have a soft spot for Freeeze too, even with it's stringey production.

Following this with Shannon in Tom's tent when the live P.A failed was a musical band aid on a severely spanked crowd in there that nite who seriously wanted to boogie down and show what they got.

And me and Rich licked it up!
it's time for some heartbeats

Has this recently been reissued ?
I am surprised where and how often I have heard this in the last two month: supermarkets, Las Vegas casinos, radio (not an old school station), car stereos, booth music at a trade show, etc.

I don't have my record at hand: Who was behind Nu Shooz?

IOU is a good track, ok, the generic sounds used were not the greatest but they're all over 'Let the music play' and other pop/electro records of the time, also a fair few 'classic' electro joints like Bambaata's 'Looking for the perfect beat', Hashim's 'All nayfish (the soul)' Tyrone Brunson's 'The smurf', Newclues 'Wickki wickki song'. The 'tinny' production was just one element of what made these records so distinctive at the time, surely?.
And New Orders 'Confusion' is another fine Arthur Baker production.

I *believe* there was a cover a year or so back, but it wasn't a patch on the original...

<edit> A quick google tells me it was Ladies First. Huh, who they?

And a 'guilty pleasures' Brillo would be ace Ed. From times before Brillo Matt and I had a set of all this worked out with no audience to inflict it upon (who reminded you how good 'House Arrest' was Matt???).
