Looks like it's the reaper's season for larger than life characters as Russ Meyer has joined Cloughie to go Beyon d the Valley of the Dolls
Specialising in Rusty Goffe since 2009

I wonder if his funeral will be attended by lots of large breasted 50+ year old "actresses" paying their final respects?

RIP Russ. You had your knockers but I liked your films.

I feel like the only appropriate homage (a picture of a pair of spectacularly large breasts) is off limits since the Great VV Clean Up, but I'm sure Russ is very happy up there, gazing down the fronts of all those ladies' tops...gawd bless him! A character and no mistake...

Sad to see a legend like Russ pass away.
His tombstone will consist of two large boulders in bra.

            RIP.

Electro Suze's avatar has brought Russ and his bountiful ladies to the forefront of my mind again.

Do any of you recall the three soundtrack LPs that came out on QDK Media around 10 years ago?
Each of the three LPs covered three films and had almost 70 minutes of music crammed onto a single LP.
Lots of lovely photos and CD-sixed booklets provided.

Any idea if these were legit?
They certainly don't sound the best - should have been doubles.

Yep, I remember checking the CD booklets but never heard the music. No idea if they were bootlegs but they were nicely packaged...fnar, fnar.

the music is ok...lots of dialogue that is good mix fodder - quality is iffy but as i said the vinyl was the last thing on my mind when i bought these-i'm a meyer fan so it was just nice to get these packages...they did a nice betty pages one too.

yep, the vinyl paled in comparison to the photos. I pulled them off the shelf earlier to have another look and my wife (who wasn't on the scene when I bought them) walked in. I didn't even hear her, so immersed was I.
'I'll leave you to it' she said.

I'm a big fan of the films too - bought a good few of the VHS releases in the 1990s - and got hold of that 18 disc DVD box a couple of years ago. The region 1 of Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls is worth picking up too.

The IFC [private cinema like the NFT] had a Meyer season in 1995. I had arranged with a mate to go [he wasn't familiar with Russ's output]. No mobiles then. We arranged to meet outside the cinema and all of a sudden his 17 year old sister turns up. She relayed the message that her brother was sick but was along as his 'stand-in'. I grimaced, smiled politely and said, 'we'd better go in so'.

The film was Supervixens. To her credit she stayed for the full duration, smiling weakly at me at the start, then stony silence thereafter. I suggested going for a pint afterwards but she said she had to get home.

It's filled with great quotes, "Yes I vow, 'ere this night does wane, you will drink the black sperm of my vengeance." is my favourite.
For me the best film is Beneath The Valley of the Ultravixens, love the way they bleed paint.

I saw an interview with Russ Meyer in which he quoted the very same line, followed by a pause and the words, "and of course in the end he does"
