• Hf&s thurs sept 30: guest dj, ian wright!

Thursday September 30: Special guest DJ, Ian Wright (Sisterfunk, BBE Records).

Hot, Funky & Sweaty
Every Thursday, Salmon & Compass, 58 Penton St, Angel N1 9PZ
8pm – 2am. £2 (£3 for bands). More info: 020 7837 3891.

Finally! Ian Wright makes his principle HF&S appearance! After an aborted guest attempt that fell apart at the hands of the England Vs Portugal debacle, weÂ’ve managed to get old Wrighty back for real this time.

When it comes to naming the biggest funk DJ in the world, it usually comes down to either Ian Wright or Keb Darge, but don't expect us to cast our vote – HF&S is impartial!

You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

You've been threatening to come down for weeks, Serms! Your record was impeccable, and now you've discovered pot and become a hop head! Actually, it would be nice to see more people, we seemed to have fallen off the listings and the last couple were quiet. Things have to pick up, we're over budget and Chris is reluctant to make more flyers, but if we don't, how do folks know it's there??? Arrgh!

hahah hop head. wtf is that?

Your right. My record I think over a year was about 95% attendance. And then I've just tailed off. Sorry master.

Well, can't make this one, but I'll be at the next two if that helps Nick. I'll even do my budgie dance (or not if you think that'll kill things entirely).

Hop head? Have you joined CAMRA Serms? Are you wearing cardies and growing a 'proper' beard? Or is that me?

Brush up on your 50s speak, fellows. Read a nice James Ellroy novel or two.

Get Shorty's an Elmore Leonard book

Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett are good for slang, too
