• El chicles discogs

anyone know of any useful discogs / guides for el chicles related releases? or which alums are worth picking up?

noticed there seem to be two album releases both titled "La La La" on different labels with different tracklists. I'm guessing one (on Blue Elephant) is the original, and the other is a low-budget compilation affair, but as i'm going off other peoples lists it's purely a shot in the dark. there seems to be a hefty price difference between the two as well, more than would be accounted for by differing issues of the same release.

any guidance appreciated!

el chicles where do i start...

La La La (on Blue Elephant ) is the orig but is not the good one !

La La La ( on carbine ) is the one to get !

same cover but different tracklist and version.

there are also pressings of la la la spanish.... (and south american )one wich is the same a the blue elephant one (different cover)

also there's a strange other pressing of la lal a on rkm with girl cover ...

the discographie of el chicles is very complicated ....

discotheque explosion (on rkm) and the snake (blue elephant ) is worth getting imho

be carrefull because those brazil and brasilian carnaval records the pop up on e-bay are not el chicles.... they are just jean van loo stuff (chocolat's)

And don't forget...

Chicken Curry and His Pop Percussion Orchestra: Stereo Discotheque (MFP)

..basically The Snake by the El Chicles I think. From around 1975 with Librium, Malaria Fever, Grand Prix, Drums Go Nuts etc. etc. Great tracks on this one.
...

the rkm is the label of roland kluger who produced the sumo's lp

Worth noting the name "Roland Kluger"
he has produced a lot of interesting stuff, if his name is
on a record give it a listen. Don't see that many here in holland
anymore though, Shame.

if i remember right RKM was a belguim label i think ? pokster ?

Chicken Curry and His Pop Percussion Orchestra: Stereo Discotheque (MFP). Great lp.

Can anyone tell me on what format the El Chicles - La La La (Brazilian Version) appears? This record got spins at early NYC discos, but I've never seen it anywhere (or heard it, for that matter). Is it different to the original La La La or... what?

I have a copy of the Brazilian pressing, it's on the Tapecar label I think! I'll check later when I get home. (same sleeve as the Belgium one I think, La La La in bright colours on a black background)

Anyone know if the Plus record just the El Chicles lineup and if theres a reissue or any tracks compiled? - would really like to hear this. Also is Stories any good never heard it. Finally is La La La on 45 rare or just the lp?

Cheers, Rob

Here are the details of the Brazilian pressing of La La La on Disques Carabinc/Top Tape Records, not Tapecar as I mentioned earlier.

Side 1
La La La
Chicken Curry
Malaria Fever
Twinkling Rio
Librium
Drums Go Nuts

Side 2
The Snake

Grape Fruit Mix
Grand Prix
