Had a good day today.

Finally got around to taking about 150 LP's that have been sitting on my floor for months having not been able to sell them to anyone in the world on Ebay to my local record dealers.

1st stop - Sorry the guy that does all th buying is not here today....bugger!

2nd Stop Went in to charity shop a few doors down and got:

Alan Tew - These I like - Woodstock, I Want You back, etc
The Travelling People / The Johnstons - UK Folk
Sergio Mendes - In Concert - Double
Tonio K - Life in the Foodchain
Labi Siffre - Crying Laughing Loving lying - Double
Peter Paul and Mary - S/T
Herbie Mann - Push Push - Horrid Hairy chest cover!
The Tinkers - S/T - Folk
Le Cheile - Lord Mayo - Folk
Buddy Holly - Remeber Buddy Holly

So things aren't going to plan so far, the idea was to get rid of records.

3rd Stop - Went to another dealer who always has lots of good stuff. He calls me the guy who likes the weird stuff, meaning that anything that doesn't neatly fall into one of his catagories he puts aside for me.

Brought in my trades, he took about 60 off me and gave me £240 trade. Took the remaining records back to my car where my long suffering girlfriend was waiting and was greeted with "Do we have to take those home?" After some sweet talking I returned to the shop to use my credit.

Got the following for £100 and got £120 cash back:

Electro 1 + 2 + 4 + 7
Labi Siffre - Singer and the Song - Great LP, bossa, funky. - Double
Peter Herbolzheimer - The Catfish - Essential German funky jazz (£2&#33 - Trade
Americo Belotto - Remember the Name - Cool funky latin LP on Circle of Sound - Double
The Impressions - 3 The Hard Way Soundtrack
Jumping Jacques - Sugar and Spice (£2!&#33
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis Live
Eddie Henderson - Sunburst - Excellent Blue Note funky jazz LP - Double
Al Johnson - Peaceful - Rare private press funky soul LP.
Ultra Funk - Meat Heat - The best cover ever?????????
John Gregory - The Detectives - Double
The Elephant - S/T - Funky Rock - Double
Back Door - 8th Street Nites - Funky rock
Eddie Russ - Take a Look at yourself
Rollerball 7" - Spanish issue with Executive Suite

And as if this isn't enough he tells me that a charity shop where he helps them price has a load of library LP's in. He calls them to check that they are still there then asks them to take them out of the racks for me.

4th Stop - Charity shop in middle of nowhere. Lady took me into the back room where a pile of late 70's/early 80's Brutons were waiting. Not really my thing I expect but at 50p each I couldn't say no. Can anyone save me listening to all of these by recommending any heat>

If the ones I've got in that selection are anything to go by, I don't think there's anything too exciting in that colelction of libs (though the Bruton BRKs may be interesting) - if you want to sell any of them, gis a shout......

Diggin' was good today, almost:

7"

. Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force - Planet Rock / Instrumental - Polygram/21 Records, 1982
. Miguel de Deus - Frevê / Brincando de planetear - Cigarra, 1983
totally disappointing this one; dude sings Frevo (a brazilian northeastearn carnival rhythm) and a ballad. No funk for me.

12"

. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Computer game / Yellow magic - Horizon, 1979
. Al Wilson - Count the days / Is this the end - Roadshow, 1979 - Disco crap!

LPs

. Eddie Harris - Bad luck is all I have - Atlantic, 1975 - Nice funkiness on Get up and dance
. Quincy Jones - Ndeda - Mercury, 1972
. The Peddlers - Birthday - UK CBS, 1969 - Didn't listen to it, but V V review says this is not one of their best
. Claudia - Deixa eu dizer - Odeon, 1973
. El Chicles - La la la - Top Tape/Carabine, 1972 - Niiiiiiiice

Can someone drop some knowledge about this one, please?
The track list is totally different of the La la la reissue I found on the net. Mine has these tracks:
1. La la la
2. Chicken curry
3. Malaria fever
4. Twinkling Rio
5. Librium
6. Drums go nuts
7. The Snake
8. Soul conga
9. Grape fruit mix
10. Grand prix
11. At number one

And the one I found:
1. Babalu
2. La La La
3. Wild Groove
4. Streaking a Gogo
5. King Kong
6. Bantu
7. Please Love Me
8. Music for a Playboy
9. Girl Safari
10. Brigitte Bardot
11. La La La (Single version)
12. Watermelon Man

What's the deal? Is mine a "Best of"? Any information will be very appreciated. Thanks

And you, what did you find? Show us
((-_-)) The groove is out there ((-_-))

I don't want to rain on your parade, but that is not a private press.

Lovely LP though, with his first version of 'I've Got My Second Wind' + other Hutsonesque tunes.
He also contributed songs for the Jim Henson movie vehicle 'Muppets From Space'.

Cheers for the info Hade. To be honest I wasn't sure it just looks like a small label so I put two and two together and came up with five.

They're all crap - perhaps the occasional funky disco number. I bought about 400 Bruton + Chappell LPs at an auction a few months ago - ended up keeping 4 of them. I'd recommend selling them on ebay as a job lot.

Honestly mate, after seeing a fair few of your playlists I can't see you liking much of those particluar libraries from late 70s/early 80s! By all means play through them all but you'll get sick of em after a few! The only Bruton ones I kept were BRL1 'Auterbine' (a few funky goodies) + BRG7 'Spread Your Wings' (for 'Bionic Coconuts&#39

There are only about 4 good brutons and none of them are there! I doubt they would sell on ebay as postage will be a shocker.
