Percy thrower's gardening year...

i've wanted a copy of the percy thrower LP on SGA (no less&#33 since mr_hopkinson treated us to his genius thrower throwdowns some time back.

the bloke who creams off all the good stuff from a local charity (he lives upstairs, see) watched me like a hawk as i pulled this one out and took it to the old lady on the counter...

"like a bit of gardening, do ya?" he growled, sarcastically.

to which i replied "well, i do like a bit of digging now and then".



i know it's not rare or anything, but it pleased me to find it for a few pence.

hawkeye indeed. it was a bit of a boom-tsh! moment i have to say.

i'm not sure about any other releases by percy - never seen any. i remember mr_hopkinson telling me that his copy was also SGA and not a double...

very interesting anyway.

No I bought it of course! I am hoping that in the long run my record collecting will become a work of blissful cosmic karma, and that all the worthy bits of vinyl I accrue will eventually cancel out all the bad karma from finds such as this. So for every Bernard Manning and Jim Davidson album I acquire, I will go to great lengths to make sure I have an equal number of Ben Elton or Lenny Henry records.

That's the plan. I was inspired by the Oxfam specialist record store in Ealing which had the speeches of Adolf Hitler next to the speeches of Mao. Both mad bastard genocidal dictators, but from different ends of the political spectrum, so together it sort of worked. So now I have to balance this thread out.

The Jim Davidson LP featured is a vocal rather than stand up album, I believe. If you're collecting crap just say so, not a problem, but don't make out you have a plan.
