• New year's

To all the Brillo people:

Chris has asked me if we'd be interested in doing a New Year's edition of Best of Brillo.

I said "phew, dunno mate" I mean, everyone's got their thing, their friends to see etc. So all I can do is put it out there. The bar will be open til 4am.

There will be a budget of around £500 or maybe more. Which obviously we'll split between us. Even if there's just five of us up for it, that'll be enough.

Comments asap please!

I *could* be in Nick, but it's a bit reliant on a couple of other things.

Not to mention a cab home for me from there on NYE/day will cost me about £80.

Well, potentially yes but with a precarious range of ifs and buts. I guess that pretty much goes for everyone....

Yeah, sounds good to me. Keep it cheap and I would imagine you could count me and my friends in. I won't be DJing but I'll be dancing.

£500 behind the bar won't go far.

again - it's a possible...in principle

I've no big plans yet myself -but depends on arrangements on getting back.

Hmm, I must make friends with some teetotallers who drive and have a big comfy car...!

I'd definitely be up for it. New Year's is always an anticlimax and I was just wondering what the options were yesterday... Plus, I *have* to get some return from all these bagpipe records I've bought.
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

sounds like it could be good - we did a similar thing last year at the T.Bird with about 5 or 6 djs and it was a great night, best NYE for a while - people dancing on tables to crazy, funky music. it's just been sold though, and no idea what the new owners will be doing (they're currently redecorating/spoiling the place )

guess it's not so convenient for non-local Brillo-ers though...

Ahh, maybe that'll be the chance to unveil my bagpipe record then [the sound of Nick cryng and scrubbing my name off any potential list].

Yep - there's one on that Weadles Groove Seattle Funk comp - an unissued take on the tune - and it's good as well!

There's a version by Black On White Affair, (they of A Bunch Of Changes fame, one of the heaviest and hardest ever tracks put to wax) previously unreleased on a comp of Seattle funk called Wheedle's Groove. I'll buy it so it can be played at midnight. The version is pretty hard, plenty of Hammond, geeetars and good drums!

Follow that with Della's take on It Was A Very Good Year and we're sorted. Who's got King Of The Beats?

Like everyone I'm potentially in depending on whether or not a planned ski trip happens.

I'm promoting a potentially financially disastrous night at The Egg, so will be otherwise engaged, I'm afraid. It's only round the corner, too.
