  • The boys in blue

'70s/'80s comedy duo Cannon & Ball's 1983 film 'The Boys in Blue' has just been released on DVD.

I was watching it the other day and it's got an absolutely brilliant, dramatic disco-funk score by Ed Welch, complete with two massive drums and percussion breakdowns.

That's all really - I love it and just felt like saying so!
A leaping rocker with a strong mood, a moderate beat and a safari feel.

Yes, the track immediately after the opening titles is brilliant, in an 80s library funk kind of way!

Still looking for the theme single, if anyone's got one........

I thought it might be you, Lotd T, who'd reply to this post! Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys this type of early '80s library sound!

It's a shame the 'Boys in Blue' 45 doesn't contain any of this incidental music - just that bloody awful theme song.

Maybe we should lobby the Licorice Soul boys, get them to track down the master tapes, and put both disco-funk tracks on a 45!

        Oh yeah! Good idea!

Or what about a compilation of 'The Film Music of Ed Welch', with that, some of the 'Confessions....' series music, and the soundtrack to the CFF film 'Tightrope To Terror', which is ace!

        Just me then.........
