Thursday Nov 04, Reverend Cleatus & The Soul Saviours live. Guest DJs: Matt & Rich Hero (Hero No.7)
Hot, Funky & Sweaty. Every Thursday at The Salmon & Compass, 58 Penton St (corner of Penton & Chapel Mkt), Angel, London N1. 8pm-2am. £3, free before 9pm. Info: 020 7837 3891.
The honorable Reverend Cleatus returns, though we still canÂ’t figured out which oneÂ’s the holy man, but who cares? They all smoke! Fiery funk from the band that rose from the Longo AllstarsÂ’ ashes... Lots of new material this time too, including their entry on the upcoming HF&S LP, scheduled for Jan/Feb 05 release on Acid Jazz Records...
Matt & Rich Hero of Hero No.7 are veteran collectors – why they don’t DJ more is beyond me cos they’ve sure got what it takes to get a party moving! They already have their moment in history secured through their contribution to the evolution of Cut’n’Paste (see the excellent article in Grandslam Magazine No.1 for more details) and maybe we’ll see more on vinyl from these guys...
(Some of you may have noted that the Baker Brothers were originally booked for Nov 04. The Baker Brothers will now be playing HF&S on Dec 02. Big thanks to Rev Cleatus for swapping their date!
Expect to see fellas turning up to sell funk/soul 45s. It'll take a while to get going, but keep yer eyes peeled all the same. Any sellers/dealers interested, PM me from this board.
