Although I've not heard it myself, 'Darkside' is supposed to quite nice in a drama kind of way... "similar to Hanged Man" I've heard it described as in the past.

Who wants to release the Sound Stylistics LP then? C'mon! It'll only cost ya £1500 to Bruton for the rights, and some paperwork - you'll make that back, no problemo!

JTQ have also done 'Retro Acid Jazz' and 'The Hustle' which are worth picking up if you're into their style... the Crockett/Glover team behind the Sound Stylistics 'Deep Funk' also have a library called 'Old School Classics' which is worth looking out for.

I think this would be a bargain business if any one os organised enough to pull it off. Better still make it a Best of Crockett/Glover/Crockett with tracks from Deep Funk, Old School Classics, Retro Acid Jazz and The Hustle

I really like Bruton's "blow out" album. Some cool funky jazz tracks from 1980! And one track called "Supersamba" that works very well on the dancefloor:-)

Which track was sampled? I was under the impression that Relax was one of those Brutons that only I could possibly like!

there's a half-decent Hawkshaw early Bruton called 'terrestrial journey' with some tasty space-funk-disco bits. from about '78.

Heavy Rock is pretty good. Has the track "Funko" plus a rip off of KISS "I was Made for Loving you baby".
Speed fever has two worthy tracks, "Indianopolis 2" and "Making the Action".
Light My Fire is pretty good.

Cheers,

David

The thing with Brutons is it's more good tracks scattered here and there rather than good LPs. I have mostly the drama ones, but there are some good disco tracks on some of the others. I like a couple on Light my Fire (Bennett's Disco Fever, if my memory is right. I have got quite a mass of Brutons but they aren't really organised.

I sold about 300 of them to an American in the Summer. Like BionicBoy intimates, most of them are one-trackers (if any). Took up way too much space so they had to go.
