Correct. Nothing really worth breaking a trip to Sellafield for.

I did get a few from the 50p boxes, Sam The Sham, Sam and Dave, Arthur Conley, Lee Dorsey, etc.

And the largest ploughmans lunch I've ever eaten at the bakery. Recommended.

        • The above pic was taken before Cliff's recent appearance in the news ...

Most of the LPs in this section seemed to be Scottish Pipe bands.

          • You know the vinyl revival is peaking when you come across record frisbees in the park. This kicked off a kind of Proustian reverie where I deeply remembered and rexperienced the parks, streets and record frisbees of my youth. I think.

The complete (and more robust one) was Simple Minds ‎– Street Fighting Years. The broken one was the Greatest Hits of ABBA.

All the copies should be like this, free up the charity shops a bit.

Ironic considering the story Julian Cope told about Jim Kerr boasting that he's frisbee'd his copy of The Faust Tapes off a tower block in Glasgow.

                • Every fortnight I'm at the market from 7.30am as the best record dealer sells fortnightly and then compete with a bunch of fellow collectors, dealers, grippers to get first dibs on the new arrivals. The alternative Saturdays I head down there around around 10am with little hope of finding anything on the assumption anything that might have been worthy is gone, even a good easy LP would have been picked up by that point. 99.9% of the time this happens. So I'm always intrigued by the number of people looking through the skip sellers record boxes at this late hour. Middle aged folks who I never see at the dealers stalls, presumably not wanting to pay £5 for a 70's copy of a classic rock record. So what exactly are they looking for in these boxes of charity shop style crud. Have they read online that Beatles records are worth money or are they looking for that replacement copy of No Jacket Required they ruined in the 80's?

I would like to perform an experiment that involves me placing Beatles LP's, US pop psych LP's and some good library LP's in a box for £1 and see what grabs their attention. Obviously I'm not willing to give up good records to perform this experiment.

Probably even better for 78's, or perhaps too snug.

I'm sure the good people on the board will be happy to help out by donating some records for this experiment Nige man!

they´re not looking for anything, they´re just "having a look." It´s a pleasant, if fruitless activity that i´ve done on many occasions. You don´t get many £5 classic rock records but you do get a decent nights kip, a proper breakfast and, best of all, you don´t have to jostle with dealers and grippers.
                            Vardy.....¡¡¡PELIGRO!!!
