anyone one with the wool 7" 'the witch'..?

just got mine through in the post and bloody thing has some awful sounding distortion on it!

first i thought it was a seriously fuzzed up guitar playing in the background, but it sounds more like the distortion/static you get when cables aren't connected properly (and it isn't my cables). it comes on and off for teh first half and isn't overbearing, then disappears.. the vinyl looks fine and was graded NM.

can anyone tell me if it's supposed to be on there on not? i presume it's not

Funnily enough I was listening to my copy just before I left for work. And no, it didn't have any distortion over the first half, I'm sorry to say.

if its the u.s. promo, it's a styrene press and is knackered after couple of plays, the pic sleeve is a slightly delicate vinyl press but plays better.

(all good for 'sinki' hayes? i dont mind the budget trav)

There's also a cool version of 'The Witch' by The Rattles...I wonder if that is the original version...and there's also the killer spanish sung version by La Llave...

yeah, i'm pretty sure the rattles is the original....i've also got another version on one of those top of the pops type albums (can't remember which one though?)

balls, it's US promo.. at least they've given me a full refund..

and we're fixing the 'sink' as i speak (it keeps moving around - i'll let you know when i have something more conrcete to offer, hopefully next week..

(sadly no budget flights from mcr or liverpool, they're all through stanstead.. i'm looking into connections from mcr to london, but it'll probably work out cheaper just to go straight from mcr to hel)

and of course the 45 of the Rattles' original includes the beat-monster 'Geraldine' on the other side. Probably one of the best double-siders you can pick up for the price....

Damn, just beat me to the punch. That's a cracker.... thanks to Mr D for pointing me towards that 45. Better than 'The Witch' IMHO.

Picked up the Rattles version and my ears immediatly pricked up when I realised I allready knew the tune.

I have a great string and wah wah instrumental version on an LP called "Progressive Pop Poetry" by "The International Sounds Limited".

Just thought I would share that!
