  • Ebay woes.

I think I'm being paranoid but I reckon theres someone who watches what Im bidding on and follows my lead and outbids me. All the time!!!

I'm not overly fussed as the kid pays way over the odds for lots of things but Im wondering if there is a way of stopping this. Does ebay germany make this private as well as your user feedback?

You might all say well just snipe but I like to stick a bid down to shoot a shot over the bow of vultures on here.

Oh and I think this kid reads this forum. Because stuff we've mentioned he's bid on. And for that reason alone I think its pretty darn lame.

Snipe is the only way forward, Serms.

I hear what you're saying, but I've never had a problem with counter bids against what I'm buying, and dudes like yourself are deffo watched for what you're picking up.

It's no longer a headsup to the Vultures on what you're bidding on to 'stay away' - it's a headsup to those that just type in your id and overbid.

Take it as a compliment - and then go sort yourself out a snipe.

yes john thats *exactly* the guy.

I would snipe all the time but theres a few guys here who bid on the same records as me all the time cos thats just how it is and I dont want to get into a 'oh and sniping - stay the f**k back mode!'.

I am thinking of getting a new userid but I think if you register it in ebay germany you get lots of nice privacy features.

            Snipe Snipe Snipe!

            It's the only way mate!

I'm sorry, but the 'VV samuarai code of honour' is useless and weighted to someone who uses some super-duper ebay watch software (that doesn't exist for mac owners, grrrr). I mean if you use software to seek out stuff on ebay, why not use software to snipe on ebay?

Ur gonna have to either confront him/her and ask if they could not do this thing or change ur handle. or visit them in the wee small hours...........or stop buying bloody records!!! i mean wat you want to go and buy another record for don't you already got one?

piggybackin the savvy huh? i done it once or twice when i first joined the bay but i never outbid them. i simply did a recky on the artist and similar music and went from there.....generally ended up with a pile o shite but hey god loves a tryer.

have to agree here, the "vv code of honour" or whatever is a nice idea in theory but i don't think it actually works, like nick said if people are using watch software etc.....

sorry, but a snipe is the only way, if you change your userid he would quite easily be able to work it out, since you can look at the userid name history. and I don't think german ebayers can hide their bids. You could always put in token bids and a snipe. I've done that before to let friends know I've got my eye on things. put a really small bid in, much lower than you'd be prepared to go to, then set up a snipe for your real top amount. If you think this herb will be bidding against you, let him bid against your phoney price, and then just at the end BOMA - a fat snipe destroys the dream

Let's secretely arrange some auctions on total crap records - then bid away Sermad - and let him overbid you, and end up with losing his money on total shite...
I'd be happy to put up some of my crappiest pieces of junk and see if I can fool him into paying for it.

Fair do's. The vv code was always up to the individual anyways. I think its far nicer when we meet up to have a beer and chill rather than get into pissy 'you shit you outbid me on that record' arguments. Cos Ive seen that happen a few times and its just daft.

christ Ive got loads of work to do for a change.

If you get a German account (or a Belgian one I think?) your id can be seen when bidding, as can your feedback (a good thing) but you can't input that id into the search engine an find out everything someone's bid on. i.e. you can see if someone's bidding on an item but you can't then find everything else they're after.
You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah but I usually snipe though, so if I haven't put in a bid on something, then how would you know I would be after it? I honestly don't think I have gotten my many records due to you honouring your end of the VV code. No offence mate!
