    Spied this on the bay.

This record should go for a ton of dough, if it was in mint condition. I want this record, but not in VG- condition.

I still get the impression that this is going to go for large moolah. What are your opinions? Would you get sweaty palms over a VG- and bid big or hold fire. There's not many of these 45's around, but I simply won't bid on a trashed record, no matter what the title is.

depends just how bad a vg- it is. Everything I've bought from this seller has been fine, so if he says it plays ok, I guess it would...for dj'ing with, anyway.
We know when a mate buys it for you too.

...a joyous Catch 22 for the Vultures to debate, Brother Belson !!

      My take on this....

I'll tell you two briefly about two 45's bought recently form the USA, one off The 'Bay, the other private...

The first (off eBay) was a Maxine Brown 45 on Wand, graded VG and it plays perfectly. So pleased !

Unfortunately the Syl Johnson 45 was also graded VG and it looks terrible and plays with clicks and pops throughout...

      ...both graded VG...

So, what do you do... !!!
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

I had the same debate about this:

But then, I thought Buy It Now for 15 bucks? It's a worth a punt on the condition...

Ladyboy - yeah I think you've done right there - I saw a copy in approx the same condition come up for sale at a market recently, Saesonic paid a tenner for the pleasure...

Damn! Can't seem to get onto e-bay to view the link... I don't really mind if its a full sound, funky piece cos you won't really hear the pops in a crowded place on a loud PA, and that's what I buy 'em for!

Still it's always disappointing when you get the rough end of the VG universe!

Nick, the track is Little Jimmy Edward.

Thing is, I have a vision that if the right hounds see this, expect it to go for £500+ even though it's a VG-.

I don't mind buying VG- if you keep the whole thing in perspective. But it's the sweaty palmistry that I was getting at more than anything else.

My mate bought a VG album off ebay last month - and it turned up still sealed ... life is a gamble. Oh no, I feel another Black Chains posting coming on.
There MUST be a Hymns-A-Swingin' in this box...

So a quick Monday morning check, and with 3 days left to go, it's reached nearly $300.

                  For a VG-.

                  Sweaty, sweaty!
