This has no Jamaican reference but the site I originally found it on may have some stuff on.
Tabu - Manny Duran and Orchestra (1955) - been after this since finding it on the wonderful Exotica Project site a few years back.

Maybe its downbeat with depressing themes and technically imperfect vocals but it is an excellent example of a downbeat mix with depressing themes and technically imperfect vocals

It's always funny when something a bit 'soft' is given a tough JA treatment, like Doris Day "Perhaps" becoming Prince Buster "Don't Throw Stones"
