MPS title help?

I am trying to remember a MPS/Saba? title. Here's what I know:

purple label on MPS? at least I think its MPS, might be Philips?
also issued in the US, I think on green prestige/new jazz, possibly with diff cover
Black cover, with large b/w photo of the artist in the middle
trio?
pretty sure the lead guy is a guitarist, I thought it was attila zoller but i don't think it is
good, and has a sort of eastern themed track I believe

No, not that... Much more sober cover. Like a super neat three-quarter portrait of the dude looking kind of dapper and straight, black border, writing in white in the top corners
Might not even be mps, but def a euro label that had also had us issue, on new jazz I think

I'm now starting think it might not be mps. Maybe Phillips?
More clues: the US cover is a photo, of the group or the guy, and I think it's green/black
