  • Nick Drake Inspired

I have done this sort of thread in the past and it's gone down okay so I thought I would do the same with this one.

A few weeks ago I was asked to DJ at a Nick Drake book launch and so I went through my records and pulled out a few records that was either directly linked to Nick Drake or was by one of his peers or just sort of gave off a Nick Drake vibe. The mix I did is on the mix page of this forum if you want to have a look.

But you guys are the font of all musical knowledge and I would be interested in what you would have put on 'your' mix . . .

Looking forward to seeing hearing what you'd have chosen

    I will start it off

    - - - -

Maybe its downbeat with depressing themes and technically imperfect vocals but it is an excellent example of a downbeat mix with depressing themes and technically imperfect vocals

I'm reminded of Drake when I listen to "a lonely place" and " Children are Crying Aloud" by Capitol One shot Betsy Chapman

Morning (and others) on Lambert & Nuttycombe's first LP, At Home.
Must grade overall visually at least as Good minus!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!!)

I think Steve Tilston sounds a bit like Nick Drake, especially on this song: http://grooveshark.com/s/Simplicity/4HOFdE?src=5 (couldn't find a YouTube video of it)

And there's a kind of Nick Drake vibe on Duncan Browne's first two albums.

It was in the pile but didn't make the final mix

          Recognise the sleeve art.

          Cheers for the reply

Steve Tilston – All In A Dream was also in the pile but didn't make the final mix

I haven't got Duncan Browne but been on the radar

In terms of general mood and vibe, this is the nearest thing I can think of myself:

              To infinity - and beyond!

This also fits in some weird way.
Maybe it's just the JANE connection, I don't know.
Nick Drake meets Pete Dello at a real ale festival on the end of the pier or something.

                  To infinity - and beyond!
