Went to the Jazz cafe last night - Lyn Collins was good but Martha High was great and a real revelation to me as a solo artist. Her sax player was also the best I've heard in a long time. Wonder whether any one else thought so...
I'm guessing Martha must have contributed to/sung on a host of 70's funk and disco numbers but what? I know about the early Jewels stuff and her longtime JB connection but my knowledge doesn't really go any further.
I've discovered a long forgotten but nice S/T Salsoul album and a 12" languishing at home - I need more Martha! AMG doesn't help much.
Any help appreciated - thanks, peretti.
