  • How the hell does any one foreign make money at uterecht ?

shit I wanted to go, looks like top fun thumbin through euro rares with a fat doobie in my gob . Though records is what pays my bills, even costed it out hire van/ petrol/ ferry etc and it was a no brainer make more profit doin my little fair in scabby Liverpool selling a 1/5 of what I may or not sell in Holland. yes I am jealous as fook but got kids to feed!
    Was there good business there?
same applies to that London fair the other month 100 a day for the table, £100 for petrol and 200 quid to get your car back after its been towed that's before you even find a comfy doorway to sleep in for the w/end.
any dealers in uterecht from the uk who wernt promoting there record labels make any dosh?

I too would like to know more about the relity of being a record dealer in Utrecht. Are there fights on the parking lot? How do you prevent your tires from being stabbed at night? How to react if a bottle of whine gets poured over your box of 60s Psych?

      Thirded.

I am currently pondering the merits of taking a van load of records to Utrecht at some point, and would be very grateful for any advice, guidance or warnings anyone reading this may have to offer!

Arrive early, do all your high end deals in the hotel, spend all the money you make on loose drugs and recreational women, miss the fair itself & fly home.

        Allegedly.

I asked a stall owner how much he makes on such a fair. He said +- 5.000 €.

          So 5.000 € - (3 x 100 for the table) - 100 for petrol - 200 for towing, still leaves .... eeuuhh .... a bit of money.

For UK sellers, I would say there are two markets there. Reasonably priced UK stuff that sells well to non-Uk buyers and the premium UK rare stuff market. The reasonably priced cheap UK stuff sells well as it saves those buyers postage. For the top end stuff, if you have mega rare UK stuff in lovely condition then you are going to clean up off the Japanese and Russians. You only need a couple of big sales to make it more than worth your while. What I did see was a lot of rare records that weren't in the best of condition, but were out at well over the top popsike price! Could understand chancing your arm if it was in top nick but quite a lot were far from it!
