  • Edinburgh Pressing Plants

I've been doing some research on private press records from Scotland (as evidenced by an earlier thread!) and have come across 2 custom pressing plants from Edinburgh where I can only identify a small number of records each and was wondering if anyone on here can fill in any blanks from their own collections/knowledge.

The first pressing plant was Craighall Studios active in the 1960s. The singles pressed there mostly seem to have the prefix 'PR' and the ones I have found are:

The Johnny Douglas Combo - Ski Jump 7" 1963 PR 1215
    Athenians - You Tell Me 7" 1963 PR 1225
Sabres (Scotland) - Little Latin Lupe Lu 7" 1963 PR 1230
Hammy and the Hamsters - My Dream Came True 7" 1964 PR 1240
Old Bailey's Jazz Advocates - Sentence You to 4 Minutes of Jazz 7" PR 1306
Fabulous Red Hawks - Mods and Rockers TD 1579
Choir of Sancta Maria Abbey Nunraw - Introit PR 2109
The Size Seven Group - Crying My Heart Out 7" PR 5020
John Croall - It Won't Happen Again 7" PR 5026
Sol Byron and the Impacts - Pride and Joy 7" 1964 PR 5027
Concords - Don't Fool With Love PR 5107
The Boys - Lovers Walk PR 5190
    Miss Russell-Ferguson - Ceol Clarsaich With Croon 7" 1964 PR 5313
Boston Dexters - Matchbox PR 5334
Shetland Fiddlers - Entertain PR 5363
Phil and the Flintstones - Love Potion No. 9 7" 1964 PR 5371
    v/a St. Andrew's Charity EP 7" PR 5462
    Clydebank Lyric Choir - 4 song 7" PR 6308
    Unknown Artist - Mill Mill O 7" 1969 PR 6552
Alasdair Gillies - Pop Goes the Gaelic CIE 6703
Norman MacLean - The Bard Sings! CIE 6705
The Dunrobiners - Road to Kildonan 1970 PR 6753
Leith Academy Choir - Hallelujah Chorus 1970 PR 6812
Matt Black - Love Me Girl 1971 TD 6917
Mayfair - Silver Threads and Golden Needles 1977 TD 7225
Kruza - Movies in the Night 1977 CS 7246
Mannfolk - Folk on the Fringe 1977 CS 7252
Force Four - Walking Back to You 7" 1965
    Worlocks - Love Potion No. 9 7"
    Holybeats 7"

The second was Radio Edinburgh Limited (run by REL Records) which ran from the late 1970s through to the late 1980s as far as I can tell. They used three different prefixes of CPS for singles, CPEP for EPs and CPLP for LPs but all used the same number run. Again the ones I have traced are:

Bustop Lady of the Night 7" 1978 CPS-011
Bunion The Men on the Rigs 7" 1978 CPS-012
Deep End Begged and Borrowed LP 1978 CPLP-016
Dean and Dawn Proud of Our City 7" 1978 CPS-018
Joan Balfour Sir Harry Lauder 7" 1979 CPS-024
    Red Letters Sacred Voices 7" 1979 CPS-025
Glory Hunter Thoughts of Destiny 7" 1979 CPS-027
Nashville Skyline Country Cound at the Coach 7" 1980 CPEP-030
    DNA Shock Rock 7" 1980 CPEP-032
Those Intrinsic Intellectuals Radio Iceland 7" 1980 CPS-040
    Catalist - Dear Lynne 7" 1981 CPS-057
Lothian Airs Our Blend LP 1982 CPLP-059
    Graeme Montgomery All Night 7" 1981 CPS-063
Mark Taylor Tribute to Art Tatum LP 1983 CPLP-070
    Dundee United Squad - It's United 7" CPS-076
    Gear (AKA Stingrays) Footprints 7" 1987 CPS-097

Many thanks for any help you can give or light you can shed.

Cheers to those who've helped out - got a couple added on to the lists now.

Lee - how does the Holybeats sound? I've been trying to get an answer to that for ages, never been able to turn up a copy.

Oh - and what pressing number does it have? PR or TD something it should be.

                Here it is

Too much holy - not enough beat! Yours if you want it sir? I'll send it along with that LP if you like? Just keeps in mind when you find that spare 'Wooden Spoon'!

Cheers for that. PM'd! Ha on the wooden spoon, although now that Divine has filled that niche I do need someone at the top of the waiting list for when I stumble across a copy - consider yourself there.
