Wow, thank you for all the replies! So for the history books, let it be noted that I ended up playing The Old Man's Back Again, and I had Land of 1000 Dances cued up but ran out of time. (You can listen here if you so desire, though you won't like most of the songs )

And thus a nation (well, 5 people, 2 dogs and a hamster) was further educated in the ways of Walker.

BTW, who's playing the bass on that track? I know Scott Walker played bass himself but it's so reminiscent of Herbie Flowers...

You need the advice of someone who isn't a Scott Walker fan, which on this forum would be me:

Anyone 'ride' for his version of 'Use Me'?

How about 'Duchess' or 'Thanks for Chicago, Mr James' or 'Orpheus' or 'Mrs Murphy'?

It's clear that you will have to play more than one Scott Walker record. Shame.

Agreed on stuff from 3, 4 and 45s from that period. Outside the canon I bloody love this one

I would nominate It's Raining Today for being representative with the lush strings being undermined by just droning on the one chord. Angels of Ashes is a popular choice I'd agree with too.

Montague Terrace (In Blue) is a bit of treat too...
These would be my first picks too. Then 'My Death' and 'Rosemary'.

This far in and no mention of Plastic Palace People? His pop melodies, his lush arrangements and his pottiness: wonderful.

I'm always surprised the ethereal Such A Small Love isn't more highly rated - his best post Walkers track before Scott 4 Imho.

Boy Child maybe? Can't go wrong with The Old Man's Back Again though.

This would be my second choice, closely followed by 'The plague' in third place.
