  • Prog Jazz Rock that doesnt cost an arm and a leg.

Been listening to the likes of Air,Tasavallan Presidentti and Aurora et al, Aurora and Air LP's go for upwards of 50 quid, but im looking for more affordable stuff, preferably early to mid 70's Prog Jazz Rock on vinyl.

Soft Machine - none are too pricey beyond the first couple.

Highly recommend the sole lp by Good God. Also try Mogul Thrash, Manfred Mann Chapter Three Vols 1 and 2 and the first 4 lp's by the band 'If". None are too expensive.

Why not buy eastern european? Lots of good stuff reasonably cheap. Eg from Poland, Klan - mrowrisko, breakout, Mira, etc. From the ddr you've got panta rhei and Electra combo. Hungary of course has lots of funky prog - pyramis, omega, etc ...

Mark-Almond Band maybe? Underrated in my book and thus certainly easy to find for little money. Much of it is quite mellow, but so is Air to my memory.

With you on this one Lee mate, first two are great.

Just had - 'Warm dust - piece for our times' on this morning, pretty sure this would fit the bill, go for a US press on UNI should be cheaper.

Great LP, a real fave, sure you would love it. You'll need to go for a US press if you don't want to go over your £50 budget.

The German repress from '79 can be had for about 18 quid

Does this do anything for you?

Originally released in France as Volkor, then in Canada a couple of years as Lockwood also reissued in Japan. There's a screwy bass line on one of these tracks should be able to pick one up for under £20.

I love the cover of volume 2.

                        Scott Bradford - Rock slides

This might fit the bill, bit heavier on the jazz side of things -

Czech stuff like Mahogan and Impulse and Jazz Q - never that pricey in the scheme of things and superb music - if you dig the Herbie Hancock gear like Sextant ...

I was lucky enough to nab a Vertigo press of this for £20. There's a number of other issues, Bronze, Island, that can be had dirt cheap. However much you pay the music is still going to be top drawer! Having said that, the sound may not be as good, I don't know, I haven't heard the reissues.

That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all
