      While I have experience high levels of wifely disapproval when I play jazz I can't help but feel that the escalation is just too rapid
      We seem to go from disapproval to lawyers without any of the intermediary ramping up stages
      Walks into another room
      Plays the radio really loudly
      Says that silence is preferable to music
      Wants to watch TV
      Tells all her friends you listen to terrible music
      Tells all your friends you listen to terrible music
      Wish that her husband was normal and liked football instead
      etc etc
      "Record collecting is no mere hobby, no innocuous leisurely diversion. It is a feverish passion bordering on dementia, driving those under the influence to irrational, compulsive, fanatical extremes."

                  Yes, and surprisingly nonbothering compared to this thread, so I should be able to get a wife.

                    "Field recordings" or World music or whatever you want to call it seem to be the real problem here.

                      Same here! Commonly referred to by the missus as "bloody wailing Africans". While I have no objection to it myself, I do often wonder what they are singing about. Could be anything really, as I only speak/understand English. Having said that, she loves Mulatu. But that's the one that gets her hackles up, stuff Andy Kershaw used to rave about.

                          She doesn't mean it in a bad way at all, it's just her way of letting me know we are beyond the seven levels! I have to confess to 31 years of living in sin too Strike us both down, see if we care!

                              I know! Believe me, I get the "eyebrows" quite a lot,but we go back quite a long way with that music. Her tastes have broadened out a bit more than mine I guess. I do try, but it's one step forward two steps back.....aaaargh!!

                                Mid-range; 4-5 = "Are me and you are going to fall out?"

                                Exit stage right, only to be drawn back in by AEOC;
