Some bad reviews claiming a bad residue being left behind with this one, but again some very positive reviews.

Or maybe they're all the same, distilled water, IPA....(indian pale ale?)...btw I recommend the Point IPA they sell in Morrisons, lovely beer and the Amber one too.

So do we have a unified champion? or are we all lighter fluid and PVA glue? I tried the PVA glue on one record and it did make a big difference..still crackles but the record was so crackly and riddled with pops and clicks to begin with, I think another clean might provide better remedy.

DIY in this house. Isopropyl 25% with distilled water, a squirt of dishwasher rinse aid. Worked in with a small square of cut from a paint pad gets it where you want it. Rinsed off under the tap....Bingo! Works for me.

I use the Disco Antistat. I make my own fluid with 50/50 isopropyl and distilled water and a few drops of soap solution which is there to help the liquid disperse over the record- otherwise it just pools on the surface. With the antistat what you get is basically an expensive record bath but once you've got it you've got it. I figure that if the record is held vertical it helps the gunk fall out of the grooves and that's what the antistat does. It works great for me and then I filter the solution afterwards and the filter paper always looks grubby. The solution lasts for ages. The antistat is about £35 and you also get a little rack to hold the records while they dry in air- plus a litre of solution to get going. Isopropyl can be had for about £15 for 5 litres on Ebay. It'll last forever. As far as the mix goes you will find different percentages all over the internet. I'm not going to live forever and I've been using the Antistat for about twenty years and my records haven't dissolved yet.50/50 seems okay to me. Treeboy's 25% works too, obviously, so make your own mind up. I like that antistat for the vertical cleaning/gunk falling out of grooves reason.

Where do you buy your distilled water from?

any non-chain chemist will order you a gallon or so. very easy. they will probably know it as purified water.
