I like jazz music, but I'm not an expert on it. Sure, I can tell my Charlie Parker's from my Roland Kirk's, but it's a big old world, jazz, and filled with pitfalls. So - the other day, I picked up a copy of the first Chico Hamilton Quintet LP from 1955. I LOVE it. The quintet features guitar, flute, bass, cello and drums and makes this very beautiful hybrid of jazz and exotica, low key and subtle as hell, full of weird little nuances. Like this, in fact.
I can't get enough of this sound. Any recommendations of similar sort of stuff gratefuly accepted!
