I've been hitting the ebay sales pretty hard recently (hence lack of chart updates, sorry j-pop fans I'll be back at it soon)
Which all leads me to having a bit of spare cash & a plan to lose it all on an ill advised project.
My 45s aren't stored that well, mostly odd cardboard, vintage record & old cat food pouch boxes, oh and a double row flight case that is so much pissing about to get to it may as well be the Ark of the Covenant.
Most 45 storage I've seen is either like mine, those butty box style tubs or super swanky bespoke wooden shelving, so I want to make some that look nice, are easily accessible, shelve-able(?) & protect my records from dust & stuff
Roughly I'm thinking of a 8x12" vacuum formed (no seam weakness) plastic box in 2 halves (Bottom coloured/Lid clear) modernist style rounded edges, stackable, maybe an 8x8 version too. Visually kind of like a giant capsule pill or one of those old Braun coffin stereos but smaller & full of records.
They'd be for home storage rather than portability so I'm not concerned about handles or anything. If I can work out how to make something good it should be relatively simple to get a bunch more done to sell.
So what do you lot reckon, am I missing any functionality, wrong on the sizes, someone's already doing it that I've not spotted?
Also as record folks what would you expect to pay for something like this, there was that record bag someone posted about on here that looked really nice but the price tag made me run for the hills so I'm conscious of keeping these affordable. Depending on manufacturing costs I was thinking in the ballpark of 25 quid a pop??
What do you think
