  • The Ultimate jukebox: recommednations please

I've recently finally managed to get my ancient jukebox serviced and it's now in wonderful working condition.

I'm planning to fill the thing with repro garage / soul / R'n'B / punk /psych 45s, with the middles punched out.

I know plenty of folk like Jazzman have specialised in putting these out.
I've never paid much attention as I tend to avoid repros.

However, I'm now after tips / ideas on what's been reissued and is out there that would make killer jukebox two-sided 45s.

    All pointers most welcome.

My recommendnation (sic) to you Hugh is this. I mean, sheeeet, it just SOUNDS like a Jukebox record, and while I'm sure it's great to have rockin' out type numbers, you definitely need some drunken sounding singalongs for when you've all been at the Jim Beam.

Another one that sounds like it s designed for a jukebox. Great popcorn soul and perfect back to back with a cheap boot of Sam Fletcher. Both boomy productions.

Mitch Ryder - Blessing In Disguise

Sam Fletcher - I'd think It Over Twice

Yup, and none of them are KILLER TWO SIDES. .
          Back to the drawing board.
Post only KILLER TWO SIDERS peeps or the wrath of Hugh will ensue.

I'd highly recommend checking out the KENT label. Dozens and dozens of great killer two siders, well-pressed, great-sounding and cheap!

Start with Stratoliners - My Love / Little Willie John - I'm Shakin'

Should've clarified . . . I'm particularly interested in tips of killer garage / soul / R'n'B / psych 45s that have been reissued with middles punched out for jukebox purposes.
For instance, I didn't even realise till this morning that stuff like RATS' REVENGE or WE ALL LOVE PEANUT BUTTER had had this treatment.
              Cheers again.

Not sure how legit the reissue is, but some bright spark placed both the killer Honey & The Bees tracks onto one 45.

If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

Great news about the jukebox Hughv I'd head straight for the Norton 800 series and the Northwest Killers series, all that Sonics goodness for cheap and JB ready. I did keep up with quite a few of the repros I'll check later as I'm away at the moment. Meanwhile how,s about ? And the Mysterians I need somebody/8 teen double sider?
Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Agree with the Honey and the Bees

Charles Sheffield - It's Your Voodoo Working

There a split 45 of Letta Mbulu - What's Wrong With Groovin' b/W Lorez Alexandria - Send In The Clowns on Jazzman...

Honey & The Bees repro seems long gone.
Seen copies of THAT go for sixty quid!!!

Charles Sheffield will be on there.

                        Many thanks
                        Keep them coming.

I honestly don't know why (perhaps my subconscious worry about my thinning thatch), but this sprung to mind straight away. Reissued on St Lawrence about three years ago.

Heavens - sixty quid... these re-pos were about 7 Euros a pop a few years back... I wished bought doublers of these - gone up in price faster than my OGs..!

Doni Burdick - Candle (In The Window) on Outta Sight - still seems cheap...

Betty Chung – Bang Bang b/w Jun Mayuzumi - Black Room

Jukebox Jam Series - Jazzman sub label has some good bits...

Elevators, Cramps re-issues on 45 are cheap - this always turns about for about 7 Euros...
