  • Portables ... 108 of them

Here are some photos I took at the weekend. 108 different portables from a guy's collection.

The exhibition is running until the end of the month. PM me if you want the details

    Brilliant - thanks for sharing...

With the addition of the Fisher Price and the Columbia Ladybird to my collection earlier this year, I got to 14 and decided to quit. This guy has just brought me back out of retirement..!
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing them. What's the story with the Saba that looks like my Dual?
Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

I think it's a cheaper version of the soundburger beside it, if that's the one you mean. Quite a few of the models on display were marketed in "kids' versions", or made under license by other companies belonging to the same group. For example, the Hitachi GP3s I used to think were rip-offs are actually legit versions.

Great stuff. Did I see one with an built-in keyboard so you can play along to the record that's playing?

Dj Format has one with a built in keyboard i can,t remember the make/model tho. A photo of him with it was used on some of his gig flyers this year. At one gig earlier this year, some of the younger crowd were expecting him to "make music" with it and do his whole set using it. Ah bless em

Great stuff. I have around 25 portables, only two of them were visible in that lot. Probably because most mine are european, and the ones above mostly US /japanese.
