"Digital music is a convenient and relatively inexpensive means of listening to music. Quality is not bad either relative to the cost of the equipment.
However, vinyl discs, especially when played on top end equipment (VERY expensive!), gives a warmth and depth to music that digital can't get near to. It does get close to reproducing the sound that the producers and musicians create in the studio."
this is pure bollocks. listen to a cd on moniter speakers or high range headphones and the depth and clarity is massive.
plus nearly all records made now are taken from digital masters, either wavs or cds.
i love records, i only buy records. i have thousands of them. but this argument is silly.
this is more like it
"The smell of a gatefold sleeve, the hours of pleasure studying the artwork, the delicious sound of the disc coming out of it's sleeve, the crackles and pops from the needle, the nostalgia - analogue beats digital on so many levels!"

The comments on these articles from the anti vinyl brigade if there is such a thing always seem to assume that if you buy records then you mustn't have any cd's and have no concept of mp3, wav, ape, flac or any digital audio format.Mixes, Music: https://www.mixcloud.com/amitron_7/

I don't buy that many new records really, but the ones I do buy generally don't sound as good as the usual old 40-50 year old dross I spend too much time hunting down. It could be, as PaulK says above, that they originate from a digital format and are then transferred to vinyl. I know it's a pointless argument, and there can never be a winner. I am glad that "hipsters" (what the f**k is one of them? I thought they were trousers!) are buying vinyl anyway....even if they don't listen to it!Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

I saw a young 'hip' lad debating with himself whether to buy a Mel Torme or Tony Bennett album in an OXFAM the other week I thought that's great, brought a smile to my face. A rather camp assistant in another charity shop told me its mostly young kids buying their vinyl these days, long may it continue I say.Mixes, Music: https://www.mixcloud.com/amitron_7/
