Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about it?

Essentially how big is it? Is it worth travelling from the UK for? It seems like a lot of high price items are sold / traded before the event even so how is it for interesting but not big bucks 45's? Is it the same old dealers everytime or collectors thinning the collection? How busy / competative is it? ...and why Allentown ferchristsakes?

All depends on 1) what you want to buy 2) how much time you have, and 3) how much money you have.

But in answer to your questions:

        Essentially how big is it?

About as big as 1/2 a football pitch. No way will you look through everything in just one day. BTW the 45 show is just Saturday, the Sunday is LPs.

Is it worth travelling from the UK for?

Only you can answer that after having been and come back

It seems like a lot of high price items are sold / traded before the event even so how is it for interesting but not big bucks 45's?

What kind of music do you buy? Generally all the bargains or best stuff is sold before the show. Often the 'interesting' stuff gets priced at TPP (triple popsike price), regardless of condition, which is frustrating to say the least.

Is it the same old dealers everytime or collectors thinning the collection?

Usually it's the same dealers each time, very few people, if any, come to sell their collection

How busy / competative is it?

Less busy every year, but more competitive!!! You will be hard-pressed to find a record worth buying before anyone else does, there are a lot of very knowledgeable people out there who will scoop them up, not to mention the dealers between themselves

        ...and why Allentown ferchristsakes?

Why not? At least it's easier to get to than Austin, in fact it's a perfect for Europeans to get to because it's near NY which is the cheapest and nearest place to fly to

In summary, if you have plenty of time and money (you have to buy flight + motel + car rental) and you have the funds and knowledge to buy a wide variety of records from cheapies to expensive then it MIGHT be worth it
