    Good. Shit album, unforgivable cover.

At least you can sell it on Discogs!

Shit album? I can't agree! It's got a just post Traffic Steve Winwood and a pre-Braindeath Eric Clapton, so both still within their sell-by dates, and they give us Can't Find My Way Home and Presence of the Lord, both of which are sublime IMO. The rest of the record is shit.

Unforgivable cover? Why unforgivable? It's certainly a very bad cover. The concept behind it is ropey to say the least, something about the metal spaceship representing mankind's creativity and technological advance and the girl representing it's innocence. Ridiculous! Then the execution of this concept is poor: not a great photo to start with, badly photo-shopped background, etc. It's like a Heavy Metal magazine parody of an imaginary Jefferson Starship cover. Worst of all, the cover does not list the name of the artist or the title of the record - Ah, now I get it. That is unforgivable.

I'm just a bit funny about pictures of topless pubescent girls. I don't like them, I think they're creepy and wrong. I'm just weird like that.

Freudians and their omnipresent pink torpedoes!
Nothing wrong or creepy about nudity in my book.
But I concede it's a terrible cover anyway.

              You have a book?

You're right, there is nothing wrong or creepy about nudity per se. I can't say the same for the people who chose to photograph a naked eleven year old girl and put it on a best selling album cover. Anyway, I've said my piece.

It's only wrong if it was designed to titillate, which it wasn't. I don't think it's wrong to use a naked figure of any age/sex in a piece of art, even if it is a pretty rubbishy sixth form effort like this.

fully aware that I'm a bit of an anachronism....I like that album. More to do with associated memories I suppose. BTW, Bow Wow Wow was 30+ years ago....crikey (gulp!)

Without that LP, we'd never have had this.
Which would be a shame, I feel.

By the way, it's a shit album cover, imho, and given the mores of the time, probably a very dogy one too.
But hey, I thought everyone was Charlie these days.

Incidentally, the model of the front was 12 at the time the image was shot and was called Mariora Goschen.
As payment, she initially requested a horse as a fee, but was instead paid £40.
She's now a massage therapist and shiatsu practitioner.
                            Of course!

I always liked the Swans version of Can't Find My way Home. Jarboe is particularly ethereal on it.
