From my son's shoebox contraption:
And there was the collander too of course:
We were also suprised by how light it remained.
In 1999 we were on the line of totality in Cornwall - cloudy unfortunately, but the darkness and sudden quiet was eerie. Also eerie was elevenses: it was our daughter's 11th birthday, we were staying in a B&B where there were a total of 11 people viewing the eclipse, which was at 11am wasn't it?, and in the evening we went to the local pub for a meal and we were shown to - yes - table 11. It is one of my daughter's enduring party pieces.

Not much of an event in my part of London - but it was an excuse to sit outside and have a coffee!!
And, in true VG+ tradition I think we should post some moon based records
"Record collecting is no mere hobby, no innocuous leisurely diversion. It is a feverish passion bordering on dementia, driving those under the influence to irrational, compulsive, fanatical extremes."

Well, I thought I wouldn't see much due to the clouds, but the eclipse itself was clear and incredible.
All of these records, 'your internets', your day to day life, your whole life... it all seems so much more miniscule, delicate, both precious and meaningless, when thinking of these heavenly bodies moving to cosmic forces and orbits, made so clear and apparent at 9:30 this morning.Spirit Duplicator—collectable, charming, affordable... and also socially networked on FB / Twitter / Instagram.
