  • Kenny Clare Facebook Page

    Hello all.

I know there are many forum members here who appreciate Kenny Clare's drumming; both from his work with the names from the 60s and 70s but also from his enormous amount of output with the library labels (particularly KPM 1000 series)

Anyway, I've put together a Facebook page dedicated to him. Even though the page is only 6 days old, there are almost 100 members; Dave Mattacks being one of them. If you do the Facebook thing, please like the page and do share any links or stories. That would be ace.

    https://www.facebook.com/kennyclaredrums

I'm compiling a Kenny Clare discography, which I'm putting together by following various threads and links on the web. I'm struggling with his more pop output; anything he played on that got into the top 40. So far, I only have 'Anyone Who had A Heart' with Cilla Black but there MUST be more than that. I have all the Dankworth, Clarke/Boland, Dance Band, KPM stuff to hand but the pop side is a bit of a blank to me. Any help here would be grand. If you have any vinyl with Kenny on, could you list it on this thread?

    Thanks very much.

nice idea, will add to the fb page.

Assusme you know the Johnny Griffin thing Clare and Clarke are on together, I assume, "Lady Fat Bottom's Waltz"/ "Foot Patting" (the UK pressing). contains the genius "Turk's Bolero".

I'm listening to Kenny Clare playing with the Bobby Lamb/ Ray Premu Orchestra at Ronnie Scott's
Great stuff - will definately join

Didn't he play on some Tom Jones records?

'Cast Your Fate To The Wind' by Sounds Orchestral is an obvious one. He's probably on Johnny Pearson's 'Sleepy Shores' as well, but you can barely hear him!

I think it's Kenny on 'Shame And Scandal In The Family' by Lance Percival - he's certainly on the b-side, 'There's Another One Behind'. Johnnie Spence was MD on both sides.

This is as far as I've got. I haven't included the Lance tune yet but will put it in when time allows.
Any glaring omisions/doubles/mistakes please let let me know. There may be some Amphonic/Chappell/De Wolfes but I'm not there yet.
Clearly, anything post 1984 will most likely be reissues or compilations.

          Cheers. Ed

                          Fantastic!

You've reminded me I've yet to see "Gonks Go Beat" properly, it was shown as background imagery when I was DJing once.
