  • May 2015 New Releases

Yes, this old chestnut is back out, this time as a 12" EP for those very few here who might have missed it first time around. Pretty much an all VG+ affair:

Klaus Johann Grobe - EP (12" repress, Salvation Records, SOUND 010)

I'm sure if you really want it you'll find a pre-sale somewhere on the net

Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

I'll be having one of those... However, it was pipped on the weekly budget (could be beans on toast all next week) by this... Bernard Fevre, Black Devil Disco Club "40 Years Anniversary Collector Package (1975-2015)"

Private Records do a damn fine bit of packaging... top reissue Sounds a bit like this...

              correct.

              it's amazing.

              and it's only £10 in P&P.

Well, if you get on with John Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Horace Tapscott, Grachan Moncur, Archie Shepp, Heikki Sarmanto's "Duke & Trane", Build An Ark, Dwight Trible and stuff of that ilk, it's 172 minutes of your life you can consider well spent.

and the download (boo, hiss, etc) is already available at http://NinjaTune.Net

"don't want to hear ‘My Favorite Things’ anymore"

                    !!!

172 minutes long? Like Miles said to Coltrane "just take the horn out of your mouth"

you don't have to listen to it all at once

Having listened to the whole "Epic" a number of times now, although he definitely benefit from assiduous use of an edit function just as much as Prince/ George Clinton/ JB in his early 70s pomp, it's a stunning thing and worthy of the praise it's getting.

Oh, and I'm lobbying for people to do a remix/ edit of the best tracks off it later this year, to be preseed on vinyl. who knows where that lobbying might lead.

Piero Umiliani - To-Day’s Sound (Schema) - seems to have got a re-issue - the first reissue of the OG from 1971 has been out of print for years - even it used to go for a fair bit.. top LP - has the Baba Yaga theme "Open Space" on it...
