It's about 1978. Or 79. My dad has just bought a radio cassette player. Back home, I conduct some kiddy experimenting with recording from the radio, and record this random piece of music, from a live concert being broadcast. Probably on the BBC. I find out years later the tune they played is 'Can't Be Still', originally done by Booker T & The M G 's. Problem solved, I hear you say. No.
That tape I had is long lost, but this version I randomly recorded was significantly better and more powerful than the Booker T version. It had someone playing great blues harp on it, the harmonica playing the main hook line ( instead of Steve Cropper's guitar on the original) , and a brilliant guitar break, again, much better and wilder than the rather restrained (but still great) Booker T version. So..who was it? The Blues Band? Dr Feelgood? I suppose 1978 is going back a bit. Any ideas?
