  • Incredible Bongo Band

Does anyone happen to know who was the art director for the Incredible Bongo Band's Bongo Rock LP, there is no credit on the sleeve of my copy. Also I heard there was a 1st issue with a foil sleeve but have never seen it, anyone got a scan perhaps? Thanks in advance for any help.

i'm not really helping but whoever was the art director on the follow up must've been an interesting chap.

        If I've got this right...

The first Canadian issue is in a matt-finish sleeve

The first American issue is in a shiny 'foil'-looking sleeve

... ... they are both at home, but I can't remember off 4 hours sleep sat here at work.

I can take piccies of them both if you want... ?
If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

I like the artwork on the original UK copies - the dinosaurs in a swamp!

I'll try and dig out my UK copy - I have a bad feeling it may be in storage though. I haven't seen the Italian one, the UK is on DJM.

I think there's a load of sleeve notes with the CD re-issue, with the pair of hands above the bongos, that goes into all that. My old flatmate had it (I don't buy CDs ever!)

...here are my copies, hope you can tell the difference between the two!

.. the matt finish copy has "Made In Canada" on the back, the foil copy has the full MGM label headquarters address for California.

                        sorted!
