    hello fellow members - you may remember my chart contributions to the old-style VV site...?
    anyway, i registered on this forum in order to contribute (and re-submit) some charts, now that (unfortunately in my opinion) they are no longer being featured on the main site.

    however, when registered, i discovered i was a "geoff love". what was a "geoff love"? i guessed it was some kind of user status symbol, however i didn't want to be a "geoff love", given the choice, i wanted to be a "mandingo", or something a little bit cooler....

    i wrote to the forum administrator on this, but didn't get a reply. so i had to register again with another pseudonym (see if you can guess which?) in order to work this conundrum out.

    so somebody please correct me if i'm wrong, but i now believe "geoff love", "mandingo", etc relate to the number of "threads" left by the forum member??? and that this changes when you reach a certain number of threads???. based on the members list, it would seem thus:
    "geoff love": 0-49 threads
    "mandingo": 50-99 threads
    "assagai": 100-499 threads
    "manu dibango": 500-999 threads
    "fela kuti": 1000-1499 threads
    "mulatu astatke" 1500-1999 threads
    "orlando julius" 2000+ threads

    also: i'm not familiar with all the names here, but i guess that they relate to the credibility of afro-rock artists??
    hopefully someone can confirm the above or otherwise, and that other naive members new to this don't have to spend sleepless nights pondering the same dilemma as i have...
    all it takes for evil to flourish...hopefully you know the rest?

      Hmmm, it's not so difficult is it? (And even less of a big deal, surely?!?).

      Ah, but you don't get a choice. And there's nowt wrong with Geoff Love, surely.

      But any road, welcome back.

          i did make a mistake with the previous post about geoff love, mandingo, etc - i meant "posts" and not "threads"...hey, maybe at this rate i'll become a "mandingo" very quickly...?

              I think "Afro Rock" comes between "Assagai" and "Manu Dibango".

              I object to "Manu Dibango" on the grounds that it contains the hated phrase "Man U".

                I asked my wife if she thought I was a Mandingo - she replied she thought i might be more of a dingo . but I think with this post i shall get promotion.I was thinking of getting little flashes made to go on my jacket a bit like biker gangs use(d)

                  Ah and not so long to go until I'm a Mulatu, then.

                  Thank gawd for that - it's not nice being a Fela Kuti.

                        I wondered how long it would take for people to notice the new titles. More coming...

                          If you're looking for a pristine copy then this isn't the one for you. The vinyl looks like someone has polished their brickwork with it and the label has been ruined by some fool with a pen.

                            No thanks mate - had that and a load of other Fela albums years ago. I tried to like 'em, but I find his output as dull as dishwater.

                            Can't get with his self-indulgence - I'ld rather watch paint dry.

                            So I sold the lot - not one Kuti LP graces my collection.

                              I object to the whole notion of ranking music by quality!
                              It's just elitist!

                              Anyway, I think Mandingo is way better than Assagai - so maybe you could switch places there??
