  • New Releases October 2015

Anyone who missed out on the Cinedelic 'Under Pompelmo' reissue earlier in the year may like to know it's out again. No swanky laminated cover or numbering this time, just 500 copies on good old black vinyl- it'll still cost you twenty quid, though. They have it at Juno and probably elsewhere.

Top shout - I hope they re-do Paolo Ferrara "Profondita" - the 300 copies didn't last long...

Worth a plug are the Gianni Ferrio "La Poliziotta" And Franco Micalizzi "Laure" re-issues from Four Flies - listen over here https://fourfliesrecords.bandcamp.com/

Now here's something which I know is going to appeal to some on here. Joe Davolaz has a new single out: 'Cha Cha Andre'. It starts as a Cha Cha and ends as a crazed Bossa Nova. It's quite splendid and manages, I think, to mix up all the best things about exotica and mould them into something contemporary that works without sounding clich├ęd. Norman have it as a pre order but you can always do a pay when they have it with them. Some will remember his 'Pina Colada' flexi.

That'll be useful; those lps are few and far between.

Pleased to see that Daptone have widened their net to take in some garage sounds via their new Wick label. 1st up is The Mystery Lights with a topside lifted off their cassette only "At home with The Mystery Lights" release. I actually prefer the version on the cassette. The 45 version is stripped down. B side is a bit dirgey for me. Bit late with this one.
Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Paul Isherwood And Wayne Burrows 'Exotica Suite'

I think this was actually released in July but I've only just bought a copy and, rather than assuming than everyone already knows of it's existence...

                              Exotica Suite

You may (you should!) remember Wayne, of this parish, and are possibly aware of his various creative endeavours, such as last year's Holcombe Tarot. This explores related themes, taking inspiration from a variety of sources including exotica, as the title implies. Wayne's texts are set to music by Pish of the Soundcarriers and, if you're waiting for new Soundcarriers material, you might want to check this out in the meantime. A vinyl release has been mooted, but don't let that stop you from buying a CD or downloading (!) while you wait. It's rather good...

You freeking scientologists are all the same, quible, dribble and then demand ice creams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh.
