  • Xmas Swap Recording Failure

As per the title I'm at the end of my tether and I hope you can help me out, otherwise it'll be another no show for me I'm afraid. After stupidly buying a new laptop it seems that there is no longer a separate line-in socket as standard. The computer makes up its mind as to what you've plugged in e.g. headphones or speakers but doesn't seem to recognise a line-in cable.
I thought maybe it was just my model (Asus) but the same thing applies on my daughter's as well (Acer). What's going on? How do you guys mange it? I yearn for the simple days of my old tower PC and monitor - easy peasy. I feel like an old git

Either its a cheap 'refurbished' or second hand usb deck from ebay or one of these jobbies, plug and play:

The other suggestions are probably brill too but I can vouch for the ease of USB and I've used one of those Behringer external Soundcards in the past for some work and they are a bargain for the quality you get probably why they keep shifting them after 5 years or so since they came out.

Don't always believe the reviews - been using mine for over 5 years at least with no problems.

I bought something similar, but about a third of the price, which could be why I'm having problems of my own. You have to have something along those lines Mumbles unfortunately. But once you've got it, there'll be no stopping you. Good luck with it.

True, Amazon reviews are not to be trusted. I´ve used Veet Hair Removal Gel on my bollocks for ages with no discomfort.

                    Bet they've changed colour, though.
