Wow - its been a tough month for sad news about jazz greats
Will go an put a Mark Murphy record on right now
"Record collecting is no mere hobby, no innocuous leisurely diversion. It is a feverish passion bordering on dementia, driving those under the influence to irrational, compulsive, fanatical extremes."
yes, I;m wondering the same. Nothing on line at all. What's happened Alan, where doth tremendously sad info come from?
Tune in to OST on Resonance 104.4FM. Saturdays at 4.30pm, and now podcast legally too! Film music, TV music, rare library recordings special guests and anything to do with soundtracks. Listen on-line at www.resonancefm.com
That one really is a bolt from the blue. Not much on line but it says he died at the Lillian Booth Actors Home which is an assisted living facility so he must already have been pretty ill.
I notice Mr Trunk says he has the rights to 'This Must Be Earth' and has an aim to release it. Can I ask, Mr Trunk, if you are thinking of doing it on one of those circular vinyl thingies?
It was 'Straight No Chaser' that hipped me to Mark Murphy- really miss that mag.
Peterson's on 6 Music 10am-1pm today (sitting in for Lauren Laverne all week) and has already dropped a snippet of "my favourite things" and most of the scat classic "dingwalls".
Could be issuing 'This Must Be Earth" next year, there will be wax. May I also recommend this weird one with Herb Geller. There are three different pressings...

I had four copies of the German Nova issue at one point!! One disc instrumental, the other with Mark Murphy vocals, great stuff.
