Interesting that the links in the youtube vids seem to be dead/fake. Are these Mr Dagored's old home movies, perhaps?

Probably known to some of you, but Frankfurt-based label Analog Africa just mentioned this great Angolan comp is back-in-stock:

            https://analogafrica.bandcamp.com/al...ions-1969-1978

In general its very worth browsing their back catalogue, a great mix of unearthed musical gems from all over the African continent, with much attention to detail in the compiling process. Lots of it on vinyl is sold out already unfortunately, but its an "ear-opener" to a bunch of new not so obvious Afro-sounds, even if its only mp3 for now.

Toshiaki Yokota and the Beat Generation – Flute Adventure

              LP reissue from Superfly.

I’ve had the CD for a while now. A mixed bag, in a good way.

A significant part of this is low-impact latin-inflected jazz. And very nice too. The only criticism I would have in that sphere is that their version of “Reza” goes on slightly too long. Not their fault that the tune itself is so familiar now.

There is also a more ‘advanced’ aspect to the album. Vocal interjections. Odd noises in the background. Enthusiastic percussion. One track has a guitar motif that prefigures what I hear on “Forbidden Ritual” from Yokota’s later, and more ‘advanced’, “Primitive Community” album. Some tracks also have a bit of up-front mildly psych guitar – just about tolerable for me. Things never really get too ‘advanced’, though.

Worth a few words I thought. Especially as my brief pre-purchase research suggested that it was far more ‘advanced’ than it is.

Anyone dig Macka B's 'Never played a 45' a few years back? I did so I couldn't wait to pick up his new LP also titled 'Never Played a 45'. It's a corker.

And for anyone who doesn't know the fantastic 'Never Played A 45' "If you are able, then buy a turntable, you can even get it with a USB" classic.

                    Ace-ness.

I think this is out in the UK on Heavenly or something.
Got mine from their Australian bandcamp on zany coloured vinyl type thing.

Sorry if any of the following has already been bigged up here like, months ago, but there's a new vinyl set by Cavern Of Anti-Matter called 'void beats/invocation trex' coming out in February with a handmade sleeve version limited to 100 copies 'exclusive to Rough Trade' (they tell me...)

I managed to bag one this morning so there's still hope....

It's also available a fair bit cheaper and this time with an 'exclusive handstamped cdr' at Bleep

You can check out a track (and very good it is too...) whilst pondering the manifold options for parting with your cash here

All you hauntological hipsters may already know that the Cavern also have a 7" vinyl out as part of the Ghost Box 'Other Voices' series , so if purchasing the above record is either too much or not enough spending, you can get that here....
you can hear colours when they rhyme...
