A testament to human endurance. I'm sad he's gone. I liked his dead pan, straight talking style. Even when he was in the thick of the cosmic slop with Hawkwind, he never took it too seriously, but onstage it was full on 100% every time. He came across as a very funny guy too.
Early hints at what was to come with a "wall of fuzz".
1st Hawkwind lp I got, turned me into a greatcoat wearing, stripey trousered, longhaired, patchouli reeking toerag. Hawkwind were the soundtrack to some great times for me and my friends. Love Lemmy bellowing out the chorus on this full on, motorick rocker. I can picture him in my minds eye stepping up from the back of the stage, screaming upwards into the mic, always with great sidies...haha! Fucking happy, seemingly carefree days. Tattooed on my brain.
Seems like a lifetime ago. Lemmy crammed a few of them into one. RESPECT!Everyone tear down your own little wall
That keeps you from being a part of it all
Because you've got to be one with the one and all
You've just got to be close to it all

Fucking legend.
I was at the Rainbow Club in Los Angeles some years ago. He was just standing in the shadows by himself, one early morning about 2am after closing time and everybody knew who he was and they were giving him space out of respect.
Stuck in my mind is that moment, seeing him there.
2 TOP frontmen in a week, eh?
ROCK ON!!!!!

Always told it how it was, unique bass style almost like a rhythm guitar player with that huge Rickenbacker tone. I only ever saw him at the farcical although enjoyable Hawkfest in around 1999-2000 (His WTF faces are burnt into my memory). My mate went to see 'Motorhead' and said they were the 'loudest band' he had ever seen!
Mad the speed of it all if you pardon the pun but as a huge 'Hawkwind' fan in the past it only seems right to post the song from which he took the his bands name:

I remember an interview with him about recording 'Silver Machine' and how in the end it was only Lemmys vocal that made it work. Something that pissed 'Dave Brock' off no end and something I think was one of Lemmys favourite pastimes.
I would say 'Alan Davey' of some of the more recent Hawkwind line ups took that Lemmy style of playing bass to another level truly, but no one beats the originator!Mixes, Music: https://www.mixcloud.com/amitron_7/

Nowadays, apparently, if you want to be a real "media star" you don;t have to come up with your own musical style, create your band's "look", write good songs, play lots of gruelling tours, record lots of albums etc.. you just have to be in the media spotlight and then suck some c**k, on camera.
Then you can be Philthy rich.
It's 2 Easy.
